CONVERSION STORY #8
First, I would like to tell you how much Gene & I enjoy this prayer group. This was the first grace that we received on returning from Medjugorje this year on May 3rd. Our friends, Ellen and Steve, who are in this prayer group came by for some religious articles that we had brought from Medjugorje for them and it happened through her as Blessed Mother had already planted this in my mind.
Medjugorje boom in Italy brings much needed life to Mostar Airport where a new route to Pescara contributed to a successful 2011. More Italian destinations are announced for 2012 but the need of major investments to meet international demands is lurking on the horizon. In Medjugorje, a new local road is expected to relieve the town from traffic. |

When we are talking about ‘Medjugorje, then it is more than just talking about a town in Herzegovina that carries this name. It is about the movement that this name has triggered since six young people indicated that on the 24th of June 1981 Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus, in Medjugorje named Gospa, appeared to them, and she is still appearing and giving messages to them until today. The four most important aspects of this movement can be described as this: Firstly, it is a movement of pilgrimage.
The earliest mention of a Catholic bishopric in Bosnia dates from 1089 (i.e. from the 11th century). It was called Bosnian Bishopric, and its center was in Vrhbosna (today's Sarajevo).
Mostar is a city and municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the biggest and the most important city in the Herzegovina region and the center of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation. Mostar is situated on the Neretva river and is the fifth-largest city in the country. Mostar was named after "the bridge keepers" (natively: mostari) who guarded the Stari Most (Old Bridge) over Neretva river. The Old Bridge was built in the 16th century, during the Ottoman era, and it is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. The city has the largest population of Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

THE SISTERS ADORERS OF THE BLOOD OF CHRIST came to Budžak, a part of Banja Luka, in 1879, seven years after the Sisters of Charity. They founded the convent of «Nazaret», where they established a school and an orphanage and later a girls’ school in the center of Banja Luka (on the location of today’s “Chamber of the RS Military”). Many generations of Banja Luka girls have been educated there. The sisters also had a community in great proximity of that school, called «Marija Pomoćnica» and one in the Bishop’s ordinariate. Today, they only work in the ordinariate and reside in the convent of «Novi Nazaret» in Banja Luka. After World War II, the sisters were expelled from Bosnia and Herzegovina, their property was confiscated and the beautiful convent church torn down in 1950! Today, there are military barracks on that location.
On October 16, 2010, a party of forty-six pilgrims from Switzerland gathered to board a bus to Medjugorje. Among the travelers was a blind woman Joëlle and her twelve-year-old daughter, Vinciane. They were accompanied by Claudia, a family friend.
Miraculous healing of the eyes in Medjugorje - October, 2010 |
The journey to Medjugorje did not go well. It took two days for the group to arrive at a border crossing into Bosnia Herzegovina, only to discover that the Swiss bus did not have the correct documents to travel into the country. The bus and the group moved on and tried another border crossing, but was met with the same decision by officials. The bus was not allowed to drive into Bosnia Herzegovina.
Fortunately, at the second crossing it was noticed that there was a local bus service operating a route to Medjugorje. So the party unloaded its luggage from the Swiss bus and waited at the stand for the next bus to arrive that would take them to Medjugorje. They finally reached the village that evening at 8.00pm. The next day the group climbed Apparition Hill, including the blind woman, Joëlle. It wasn’t an easy climb in the rain, but there was a great spirit of solidarity. Later in the evening, the group gathered again and attended the evening prayer program at St James’ Church. Joëlle became strangely unsettled after receiving the Eucharist at Mass but was put at ease by the pastor accompanying the Swiss group. |
The following day, most of the group climbed Mt. Krizevac, but Joëlle and a few others, including the pastor, prayed, instead, at the Way of the Cross, which surrounds the statue of the Risen Christ. The main group on Krizevac prayed earnestly for the needs of Joëlle and in the hope that she might recover her sight. Six hours later they came off the mountain in time to attend evening Mass at St James.

Blidinje Park was named after the Blidinje Lake nested at the base of the Long Plain (Dugo polje) at 1,184 meters above the sea level. The lake spans 6 square kilometers. Majority of the water flowing into the lake comes from snowmelt that drains from the mountains Vrana and Cvrsnica (Čvrsnica).

Hutovo Blato, a habitat to hundreds of plant and animal species, has been well known since the ancient times. Following the World War II, the region was protected, initially as an elite hunting ground and later declared a bird reserve. |
Most of the answer exists in the previous question, but I would have to ask anyone who has this attitude to truly look at their lives. I doubt anyone who is honest with themselves, including the greatest saints, would ever dare to say that they did not have room for improvement.
All would agree that they could have lived their lives better and more perfectly. Our time on earth is a great opportunity to do good. It is a great opportunity to earn merit. Once we die, this opportunity is gone. The graces offered to everyone who asks with an open heart in Medjugorje, will change their life. The graces will strengthen you in your faith, and bring you to a closer relationship with Jesus and His Blessed Mother. There is no refuting this. It is simple truth.
